Quality Tests on Potatoes Produced with GEOLIFE™ Gardens & Farms
National Research Council of Italy, Institute of Nutritional Science, 2002
Background Information on these Quality Tests:
- The tests were done on Agria Potatoes, which had been produced on a surface of 10 hectares.
- Rigorous scientific vigilance was used to ensure that all the agronomic parameters were equal between the 2 comparison cultivations: the GEOLIFE™ Gardens & Farms chemical-free treatment compared to the conventional chemical treatment.
Summary of quality tests:
- Vitamin Content: The potatoes produced with the GEOLIFE™ Gardens & Farms treatment had 2.1 times the contents of Vitamin C, compared to the potatoes produced with the conventional chemical treatment.
- General Quality: The potatoes produced with the GEOLIFE™ Gardens & Farms treatment had:
- stronger cellular structure
- higher density
- higher starch content
- Oxidation Speed: The tendency toward oxidation with the GEOLIFE™ Gardens & Farms potatoes was 3 times slower than the oxidation tendency in the conventionally treated potatoes.
Additional Information from the Comparative Tests:
Shelf Life: Although not a part of the tests made by the National Research Council, the collaborating team which oversaw the project from start to finish made a further test on the shelf-life of the same two samples of Agria potatoes. After 9 months of storage in silos, the comparison of the putrification rate showed that the rate of putrification of the potatoes treated with GEOLIFE™ Gardens & Farms was 70% less than the rate of putrification of the potatoes which had received the conventional chemical treatments.
